Remember that black cashmere sweater your mom owned in the 80’s? Did you think you would be wearing that now? Let alone actually love it?

Thrifting has become one of the latest trends in the fashion world. While it may have seen as a viable option to afford new retro pieces a few years back, these pieces are now coveted. We have seen how 70’s and 80’s fashion trends of sequined sweaters and woven basket purses crowd our closets. So what is the alternative route to owning a fast fashion retro-inspired piece that is overpriced? Buying a hammy-down that is sold for a fraction of what you could have paid at the thrift shop!

But what your local thrift shop is out of distance? Or you haven’t found a hidden gem amongst the endless racks? Luckily, you can even thrift online.

ThredUp

One of the most popular thrift shops online is ThreadUp. An easily accessible app and website that delivers any vintage piece that catches your eye. It ranges from luxury brands such as Free People and Anthropology to your above average brands such as Madewell and Zara. It allows you to find once loved and/or discontinued high-quality pieces at the fraction of the original price. You can even find items that are new with tags.

Poshmark

What if you wanted to find more of a popular vintage brand name? Poshmark just might have what you’re looking for. While you can find popular higher quality second-hand brands such as Brandy Melville for a cheaper price, you can also find vintage luxury clothing or accessories by popular brands such as Michael Kors, Coach, and Guess. Are you looking for more on trend vintage brands? Poshmark has just the perfect pair of Levi’s that you’ve been looking for. Or the classic retro pair of Adidas you have been on the hunt for. The app also allows one to search for a specific item under your ideal size. Which displays all your options at the click of a button.

The RealReal

The RealReal is a luxury online thrift store selling luxury men’s, women’s, jewelry, and art up to 90% off retail prices. One of the things I love about The RealReal is placing an alert on an item when similar items become available. Popular items sell instantly so it’s important to jump on those coveted items immediately.

EBTH

I recently discovered Everything But the House (EBTH, for short), and I’m obsessed. EBTH is an online estate sale site selling literally everything but the house. The furniture is to die for, and there are no words for the jewelry selection. If you love the idea of hitting up estate sales but also love to sleep in on Saturday mornings, EBTH is perfect for you.

Online Goodwill

Online Goodwill is a serious GOLD mine. Similar to eBay, Online Goodwill is an auction site, but all items were donated to Goodwill and support Goodwill’s mission. From vintage art to cars, there is something for everyone at Online Goodwill. (My boyfriend and a couple of friends bought a 1987 Lincoln Towncar limo from Online Goodwill.)

ASOS Marketplace

ASOS is one of my favorite budget-friendly, trendy retailers, but I recently discovered (and fell in love) with ASOS’s Marketplace. The Marketplace features over 1000 boutiques featuring independent designers and vintage pieces. Some of my favorite vintage boutiques are BichVintage Inclined, and Boho Kimono.

Tradesy

Similar to the RealReal, Tradesy is also a luxury online thrift store offering designer goods including clothing, accessories, shoes, and even wedding dresses without sticker-shock prices.

So when you feel like ditching the time-consuming search of finding that perfect oversized band tee at your thrift shop, look no further. You may even find more at the comfort of your own home (and computer).
