Located in Grunerløkka, one of Oslo’s nicest and most happening neighborhoods, Trancher has a welcoming atmosphere. It was opened in 2008 and has a reputation of being one of the best steak restaurants in Oslo. The locale feels upscale, but not stuck up, making for a unique atmosphere. This bursting restaurant has a reputation for its entrecôte offerings, prepared expertly with tasty side dishes.

As we got there, we were promptly greeted by Magnus, a kind and personable server. He made us feel very comfortable and was always happy to walk us through the menu, but was never pushy about it, which was also really great.

The meat is served in a classy way and is definitely the best entrecote Oslo has to offer. It always feels nice to see a small work of art on your plate, but ultimately, the real test is in the taste, no pun intended!

The meat was cut to perfection, and it was absolutely the star of the dish, as it should be. The sides were very pleasant, adding some nuances to the meal, without ever overpowering the meat itself. I’ve always been a big believer that there should be no compromises when it comes to meat, and I always go to great lengths to source the best quality possible. After my experience at Trancher, I can comfortably say that this is what this establishment proudly offers!
